About the studio
An independent studio for interactive systems.
Narrative Systems was incorporated in 2026 in England and Wales to develop interactive systems for consumers and businesses alike.
What we do
We build software that puts the interaction itself at the centre of the experience. Where many current tools deliver a single response to a single prompt, we are interested in the longer shape of an interaction: the pacing, the branching, the way one exchange sets up the next, the way a system can carry context and intent across time rather than treating every turn as a fresh conversation.
That focus leads us to work across several domains: consumer applications where the goal is engagement and craft, and business applications where the goal is to give an organisation a system that adapts to its own workflows rather than asking the workflows to adapt to the system. Our products take different shapes (mobile apps, web tools, embedded services) but share the same idea underneath: that the interaction is the product.
Some of our systems leverage AI and large language models. Others don't. We pick whichever technology fits the problem rather than starting from a fixed stack and looking for problems to apply it to. Where AI is the right answer, we use it; where it isn't, we don't pretend otherwise.
Why now
Several technology shifts have made this kind of studio possible at this point in time: the maturity of generative models, the practicality of small specialised systems, the affordability of running serious software with a small team, the spread of distribution channels for consumer and business products alike. What's missing in most of what's shipped today is the deliberate design: the editorial judgement, the sense of pace. We started the studio to make systems that treat interaction with that level of care.
How we operate
The studio is independent and self-funded. We don't take advertising revenue, we don't sell user data to third parties, and we don't pursue growth at the expense of the product. Every system we ship will earn its keep on the value it delivers to the people who use it. That keeps the incentives clean and lets us take the time we need to get each product right before opening it up.
What we publish
We will announce each product as it launches, here and on the product's own surface. Multiple apps and services are currently in development across consumer and business contexts; release dates will be confirmed individually as each crosses its own readiness bar.
